VinFast VF6 and VF7 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating – Safest Electric SUVs in India 2026

VinFast has made a powerful entry into India’s EV market as the VinFast VF6 and VF7 secure 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, proving they are among the safest electric SUVs in India in 2026. Both models earned the highest possible scores under India’s toughest car crash testing program.

These two models went through the complete set of tough crash tests, and the numbers prove they’re seriously solid when it comes to protecting people inside.

Bharat NCAP throws cars into realistic crash scenarios:

Frontal hits against a deformable barrier, side smashes from a moving barrier, pole impacts, plus thorough checks on how well child seats perform.

Both the compact VinFast VF6 and the larger VinFast VF7 came out strong, earning those 5-star marks in adult and child occupant protection for every single variant.

Straight from the latest Bharat NCAP results:

  • VinFast VF6
    • Adult Occupant Protection: 27.13 out of 32 points  ( 5 stars)
    • Child Occupant Protection: 44.41 out of 49 points ( 5 stars)
  • VinFast VF7
    • Adult Occupant Protection: 28.54 out of 32 points (5 stars)
    • Child Occupant Protection: 45.25 out of 49 points (5 stars)

Frontal crash: it showed excellent head, neck, and upper leg protection both models maxed out points in several key areas for driver and passenger.

Side tests : Full 16/16 points in the movable barrier crash, with low head injury risks in pole impacts (109 for VF6, 131 for VF7 well under the 700 danger mark).

There were minor notes, like higher chest compression for the driver in some frontal scenarios or marginal leg protection spots on the VF6, but nothing that pulled them below the 5-star bar.

The body structure held firm, and safety gear (airbags, ADAS on higher trims) did what it was supposed to.

Child protection stayed consistently high, with strong dummy results in rear-facing seats and good ISOFIX setup praise.

The brand launched the VF6 and VF7 back in September 2025 (prices starting around ₹16.49 lakh for VF6 and ₹20.89 lakh for VF7, ex-showroom), assembling them locally in Tamil Nadu.

On the sales side, VinFast has been moving fast since day one. Cumulative sales crossed 1,000 units in just about four months (by early January 2026), with roughly 830 sold through the end of 2025 and over 200 more already in the first few weeks of 2026.

The VF6 and VF7 have driven that momentum, helping VinFast climb to the fourth spot among EV brands in India (behind Tata, MG, and Mahindra).

December 2025 alone saw strong numbers, even outpacing some bigger names like Hyundai and Kia in the segment.

For anyone hunting a safe, feature-packed electric crossover or mid-size SUV, the VinFast VF6 and VF7 now bring proven crash protection, solid real-world performance, and that confidence-boosting 5-star badge. Combined with quick early sales traction and local assembly, it’s shaping up as a smart pick in the booming EV space.
