Toyota Fortuner Rival Ready to Challenge the SUV King in India!

MG Majestor, the premium full-size SUV and strong Toyota Fortuner rival, has been spotted testing undisguised on Indian roads. With bold design, powerful diesel engines, advanced features, and February 2026 launch expected, this flagship from JSW MG Motor is set to shake up the segment.

The MG Majestor continues to generate buzz among SUV buyers in India, especially those eyeing a capable alternative to the dominant Toyota Fortuner. Recent spy shots show the production-ready model testing on public roads and off-road trails with little to no camouflage, signaling it’s close to final validation.

Unveiled at Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025, the Majestor positions itself as MG’s new flagship ICE SUV, sitting above the existing MG Gloster in the lineup. It will be sold alongside the Gloster, much like Toyota offers the Fortuner and Fortuner Legender variants.

Latest Spy Shots Confirm Progress

As of early 2026, fresh images and videos from testing show the Majestor in near-production form. Key details visible include connected LED tail lamps, prominent ‘Majestor’ badging on the tailgate, large alloy wheels, and a 360-degree camera setup integrated into the mirrors. Some units have been seen in various colours, including black, highlighting its massive road presence.

Striking Exterior Design The Majestor builds on the Gloster’s foundation but stands out with bolder styling:

  • Aggressive large front grille
  • Vertically stacked LED headlamps with slim DRLs
  • Connected slim LED tail lamps across the rear
  • Muscular stance with chunky skid plates and dual exhaust tips

These elements give it a more imposing and modern look compared to the current Gloster, aiming to match the commanding presence of rivals in the full-size segment.

Expected Premium Interior and Features

Though interiors remain partially hidden in spy shots, the Majestor is anticipated to offer:

  • Premium leather upholstery in multiple themes
  • Large touchscreen infotainment (likely 12.3-inch or bigger)
  • Fully digital instrument cluster
  • Level-2 ADAS suite (including advanced driver assistance)
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Multiple off-road drive modes and terrain settings

These additions target buyers seeking more tech and luxury in a three-row, seven-seater package.

Powertrain and Performance Details

The Majestor is expected to share the proven 2.0-litre diesel engines from the Gloster:

  • Single-turbo: Around 161-163 PS power and 373-375 Nm torque
  • Twin-turbo: Around 216-218 PS power and 478-480 Nm torque

Both variants should pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Higher trims are likely to include 4WD with locking differentials (potentially up to three) for superior off-road performance.

Launch Timeline and Market Positioning

MG has not made an official announcement yet, but multiple reports from January 2026 point to a February 2026 debut — possibly mid-to-late February. It will be available through regular JSW MG dealerships.

Positioned in the premium full-size diesel SUV space, the Majestor directly takes on the Toyota Fortuner (and Legender), along with models like the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.

Expected pricing starts around ₹40 lakh (ex-showroom), potentially ranging up to ₹45-46 lakh for top variants, offering strong value through features and capability.

With its blend of bold looks, advanced tech, and proven diesel performance, the MG Majestor could bring real competition to the segment and give Fortuner loyalists something fresh to consider. Stay tuned for official confirmation from MG soon!
