Tata Motors straight-up took the brand-new Tata Punch 2026 Facelift, pointed it at a proper full-sized truck, and… yeah, they rammed it. Head-on. No fancy lab wall, no 50% offset drama — just real Indian road-style chaos under controlled conditions at their test track.
And guess what? The little Punch absolutely ate it and asked for seconds.
Airbags fired in a blink, the cabin turned into a steel cage that refused to budge, doors still opened like nothing happened, and the passenger space? Basically untouched. I mean, the front is properly crumpled (as it should be), but everything that matters stayed exactly where it was supposed to.
This is the same company that once crashed two Tata Sierras into each other just to flex. Now they’re doing it again with the facelifted Punch, and honestly… respect.
We all know the Punch already has that shiny 5-star Bharat NCAP rating (adult + child), but seeing it prove itself against something this brutal in 2026 feels different. It’s not just a certificate anymore — it’s proof.
What actually saved lives here?
- Full 6-airbag setup (even base models get this!)
- Super strong high-strength steel structure
- Electronic Stability Program + all the usual suspects
- 360° camera, blind-spot monitor, hill descent control, TPMS, auto headlamps, SOS button… the works
It’s honestly ridiculous how much safety Tata is stuffing into a car that starts at ₹5.59 lakh.
Engines? They spiced things up too
- Fresh 1.2 turbo-petrol — 120 bhp + 170 Nm (finally some real punch in the Punch!)
- Comes with 6-speed manual (yes please)
- The old faithful 1.2 NA petrol (87.8 PS) still hanging around with 5MT or AMT
- And of course, the ever-popular CNG bi-fuel option for those 25+ km/kg dreams
So who’s it fighting?
Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Exter, Renault Kiger, Citroën C3, Fronx… all solid cars.
But none of them have a video of themselves yeeting into a truck and then casually posing for photos afterward.
If you’re someone who drives on Indian highways a lot, or just wants peace of mind when your teenager starts begging for the car keys… this thing might be the one.
I don’t know about you, but after watching that crash clip, I’m low-key in love with this chunky little tank.
What about you? Would you buy a car just because it survived something this crazy?
Or is the turbo + 6-speed enough to win you over?
