January 2026 Car Discounts in India – Real Deals Worth Chasing Right Now

Mid-January has a certain vibe for anyone looking at new cars. Showrooms suddenly get a lot more flexible, leftover 2025 stock is being pushed hard, and quite a few brands are dangling serious cash (or exchange bonuses) to hit monthly numbers before everything resets in April.

This month the action is mostly coming from Hyundai, Tata, and Maruti Suzuki. Mahindra is pretty quiet on offers. Here’s the honest, model-by-model picture based on what dealers are actually giving as of the second week of January 2026.

Hyundai – Probably the Sharpest Knife in the Drawer This Month

Hyundai is clearly trying to move volume fast.

The little Exter is the standout deal. Dealers are willing to part with up to ₹98,000 total benefit on many SX variants (the Smart trim is usually excluded from the full amount). Most people are walking away with ₹90k–98k off after exchange/scrappage. CNG versions still get a healthy ₹60–65k, which makes it one of the better budget crossovers around right now.

i20 is next in line. You can expect ₹95,000 off the regular car and roughly ₹87,000 on the N Line. The petrol manual top-end variants feel like the sweet spot – decent kit, nice to drive, and suddenly much cheaper than they were in December.

Quick run-down of the other Hyundais:

  • Grand i10 Nios → Top petrol manuals around ₹89k off, CNG near ₹80k, autos about ₹79k.
  • Verna → Straight ₹70,000 discount on almost everything. Sales have cooled off and everyone knows a facelift is coming soon.
  • Alcazar → Around ₹65,000 total (cash + exchange/scrappage combo).
  • Venue → Old stock gets ₹60k off, the current facelifted one only about ₹25k. Most buyers are better off spending the extra for the new platform.
  • Aura → Up to ₹58k, strongest on CNG.
  • Creta → Only ₹30–40k depending on petrol or diesel. It sells itself, so the discounts stay modest.

Tata – Where the Big SUVs and Old Hatchbacks Shine

Tata is concentrating discounts where they have the most stock pressure.

Safari and Harrier diesel top variants are seeing up to ₹75,000 off – usually split as ₹25k cash and ₹50k exchange/scrappage. The brand-new petrol versions? Hardly any discount because they’re still fresh.

Nexon gets a decent ₹50,000 total package in many cases (cash + exchange + loyalty where applicable).

The real steal though is the outgoing Altroz. Pre-facelift petrol, diesel, and CNG versions are being offered ₹85,000 to a full ₹1 lakh off in quite a few showrooms. That’s proper money for a premium-feeling hatch.

Punch old stock → ₹40k off. The facelift that landed mid-January? Almost zero discount yet.

Maruti Suzuki – Nexa Models Are Where the Serious Savings Live

If you’re looking at the more premium Maruti range, this is where the biggest headline numbers appear.

Invicto → Up to ₹1.30 lakh total benefit. The lion’s share is usually the ₹1 lakh exchange bonus plus corporate/scrappage top-ups.

Grand Vitara strong-hybrid variants are getting the highest offers – people are regularly seeing ₹1.25 lakh off. The regular mild-hybrid and CNG versions get noticeably less.

Rest of the lineup:

  • Baleno₹45,000 (AMT variants usually get the full amount)
  • Ignis → Flat ₹45,000 across the board
  • XL6₹35,000 on petrol & CNG
  • Fronx → Roughly ₹30,000, bit more on the turbo versions
  • Jimny → Only ₹25,000. Demand is still strong (especially up in the hills), so they aren’t desperate.

What Actually Matters When You’re Deciding

Biggest discounts right now are landing on:

  • Anything pre-facelift that’s about to be replaced
  • Slow-selling variants
  • Cars with lots of old stock sitting around

The super-popular ones (Creta, Jimny, brand-new Punch facelift) aren’t budging much.

Real-world tip: The numbers on websites are starting points. Actual offers can jump ₹10–20k higher if you talk to two or three dealers, mention you’re comparing, and have an old car for exchange. Corporate IDs, government schemes, and loyalty bonuses can add another layer too.

Bottom Line for January 2026

This is genuinely one of the better months of the year to buy if you’re after value. Shoppers going for clearance models or premium-ish SUVs and hatchbacks are easily saving ₹80,000–₹1.30 lakh.

If you’re ready to pull the trigger, get to the showroom in the next few days. The best stock moves quickest at these prices.

Safe drives and smart buys!
